| The Studio Reference is a superb two
channel monitor for small to medium size listening rooms where high performance
and tonal accuracy is paramount.
Our in-house brief was for a stand
mount/bookshelf loudspeaker that could handle high power, perform consistently
with a broad range of electronics but more importantly, create the excitement,
realism and involvement so important to make you think you're at the live
recording.
We chose the upper bass/midrange driver used in the flagship
Image Reference because we already knew it was the best. Choosing the HF driver
was also easy. A hand treated soft dome tweeter that gives a seamless transition
through the all-important midrange to treble frequency range.
This is a
loudspeaker which will perform consistently even in the most demanding
situations, affording a full-bodied and absorbing account of the music. Even
without an Image subwoofer the bass is clean, dynamic and surprisingly
extended.
The Studio Reference is suitable for bookshelf mounting but
will excel when placed on a rigid high mass stands and positioned away from
walls and furnishings.
